Aurora managed a smile and a laugh along with Esmeralda. Good to know that humans had the ability to laugh at their own follies some times. The Faeries usually didn't find much humor in what they named. Esmeralda asked if there were unusual names given by Faeries, and she had to think on that bit for a while. "Well...somewhat. We tend to go for simple and, albeit, obvious names. Back in Japan, what humans called Fujiyama we would have called 'snow tipped mountain. It tends to get confusing, I must admit."

Esmeralda gave a shrug. "Eh, names are names, even the weird-sounding ones," she said. "Speaking of fairy stuff though, do any of them ever tend to settle in areas like this?" When people mentioned fairies, they seemed to come from places like Europe and North America. Esmeralda hadn't heard of any that lived in Africa, but maybe there were some that she just didn't know about.

Well, that could be true. A writer Belle often read to Aurora had said 'that which we would call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' Bele had explained it that if you called a rose a pumpkin, it would still be a thorny flower. She didn't like thinking about thorns and roses, especially given that the name 'Briar Rose' was used by the courts to tease her for her heritage. Esmeralda asked if the Faeries "settled", to which she shrugged. "To tell the truth, I'm not sure. They do leave the courts when they see fit...unless they're chosen by the head ministers of the season, of course...so...perhaps there are some here."

"That might be interesting to look into," Esmeralda mused. "My dad's been reading up on some of the supernatural creatures that might live around here, and a lot of them sound pretty out there. Like, apparently, there's this lightning bird that can summon storms in an instant. And it might or might not live off of blood." It sounded a little creepy, but interesting too. Esmeralda wondered if they would run into something like that while they were here.

Aurora's ears perked up. Her father was reading on supernatural creatures? Was he borrowing books from Belle's libraries perhaps? The animal trainer knew so much about magic creatures herself. "I am...surprised that creatures like that exist. It would...probably be the only bird I would be afraid to talk to," her laugh was nervous, but some bit of humor was found in this strange creature that Facilier was discovering.

"Ditto. That would be kind of scary to see flying around," Esmeralda agreed. A giant bird who might have a liking for blood was probably best avoided. Luckily, creatures like that were few and far between at the circus. And those who needed blood usually had their bloodlust under control.

Aurora's eyes crinkled as her face curved up into a genuine laugh. No wonder people liked to talk with Esmeralda.; she was a very humorous person. "You're funny," she said among giggles. Laughing about scary animals was something she never had done with any of the girls in the cirque before. She did converse with Belle or Ana or evenRita and Sasha, but to have a 'hangout', as humans called it, it was rare.

"So people keep telling me," Esmeralda said with a grin. Truthfully, she was just glad that she had gotten Aurora to smile, and laugh. Grieving for a lost loved one was a natural process, but it was important not to let it consume your life. Aurora seemed to be getting along okay, but Esmeralda wanted to make sure that she recovered and moved on.

"So...what is it you like doing? Perhaps we can find it here in Kenya?" The suggestion Aurora put up was really the only idea she had in her mind. She tucked a strand of hair back. Distracting herself was what she needed to not think about Raimundo. Besides, she actually felt herself yearning to be in Esmeralda's company now that they were actually talking with themselves and not in a tight group.

Esmeralda thought for a moment before answering. "Well, I always enjoy getting a bite to eat," she replied. "And it looks like there's plenty of restaurants and vendors to choose from. How about we try some Kenyan grub?" She gave a grin. People always said you could learn a lot about a country's culture by their food, after all. Besides, it'd be fun to try something new. Esmeralda had passed by a few vendors earlier this afternoon, and there were a lot of foods she had never seen before, and it made her curious.

Grub? As in humans ate bugs? Aurora looked confused at Esmeralda. She was aware other cultures viewed insects as food, but to actually have her try one? The thought made her queasy. It took only a few seconds to sink in that 'grub; was 'slang' for getting food. Her confused and terrified face melted to delight. "Oh! Oh, yes! I have tried some of the fares here. They created this small ball from corn flour and you dip it in a spiced stew. Ugali, they called it."

Esmeralda didn't notice Aurora's confusion, but she did think that her description of ugali sounded neat. "Alright, let's see if we can find a place selling it," she said. She set off down the street at a brisk pace, although she did slow down once to make sure Aurora kept up with her. God forbid they end up getting separated and lost or something.

"Well...we don't have to have that exactly." In a quick brushing motion, Aurora was rushing after the brisk paced Esmeralda. One good thing about being half Faerie was she, too, was a natural born brisk walker. Her sandals kicked up sand wherever they went, keeping pace. It seemed that nothing could slow the witch down when she got excited. It made Aurora remember when she and Raimundo ran side by side in the city. But instead of sadness, she felt...was it joy? She shrugged, sniffing the air to pick up all the different food smells of Kenya.

Aurora was keeping up with her okay, so Esmeralda resumed her brisk pace as she searched for any place selling ugali. For the first few minutes, she didn't see anything. Then, she saw a small stand where someone was selling it for a decent price, along with a few other items as well. "Ta da! Mission accomplished," she said with a grin. "That wasn't too hard."

The smells of Africa were all beginning to be identical with each stall they passed. While they were delicious, it all began becoming one note. How many things were spiced with exotic rubs anyways? Couldn;t some foods be left in peace? But luckily, Esmeralda had her eye on the prize and didn't stop until they came to, coincidentally, the exact same booth where Aurora had tried it the first time. "Yes, I suppose so. But I mean, it is not like this is a very difficult meal to find," she shrugged, ordering her usual take.
