Esmeralda laughed. That was just too funny of a mental image. In a way though, she understood how Quasimodo felt. When she and Aladdin had gotten close, she felt like she finally understood what the phrase "walking on air" meant. "I'm hoping he can relax a little more around her, though. I think he's still worried that he might mess things up or something. I'm like 'Dude, the girl stood up against the Seven Deadly Sins for you. She's not gonna leave you anytime soon.'"

Belle flipped her brown ponytail over her shoulder. "I always tell him that if she was only using him, she would have left and never returned. She showed remorse for what she had done, too. If that's not an apology enough, I don't know what is. Besides, I always liked her, even with the knowledge she was a pawn."

"Yeah, me too," Esmeralda agreed. Cinderella was only human. Anyone would have fallen for the Seven Deadly Sins' manipulation tricks. She considered it brave that the woman had managed to stand up to them, in the end. Esmeralda knew that wasn't an easy thing to do.

Good to know Esmeralda was on her side when it came to poor Cinderella. Most of the magical people felt like they were being duped by her, even today, She took another bite of baklava, musing over the idea of how it felt to be sidelined. Both Belle and Esmeralda had different reasons of being shoved aside. For her friend, it was magic, and for Belle, it was doing things normal society never did like reading books in place of online blogs.

There was a moment of silence between the two women, but it wasn't an uncomfortable one. Esmeralda just felt glad to be in Belle's company. With their lives getting pretty busy these days, they didn't hang out as much as they used to. But, like most great friends did, they were always able to pick up where they left off whenever they got together again. "So, how's Duncan taking to being a dad?" she asked. "Is he ever worried about anything with Xander?" Dads tended to get nervous when it came to kids. Maybe it was because it had been the wife's job for so long to take care of them. But Esmeralda knew Belle and Duncan weren't going to have a household like that.

Belle laughed. Duncan as a dad was one of the most adorable things in the world to watch. It was ironic considering his own father was abusive and cruel; maybe that sweetness came from deep within the fact he didn't want to be anything like Belloc. "Oh my goodness, he adores Xander. He's like you when he sees him. He just lights up and does everything he can with him." But then again, bein good with a baby didn'tt fully answer Esmeralda's question. "He was shaky a bit at first, not wanting to follow in Belloc's footsteps, but I could see, like he always does, he kept trying. Next thing I knew, Xander was crying for him and not just for me."

Esmeralda smiled at the mental image of that. "Aw, that sounds adorable," she said. She was glad that Duncan was warming up to his role of being a father, despite his own daddy issues. But it looked like he was moving on from them, and that was the best way to not feel sad or angry about it anymore.

Belle shuffled the empty plates. The only signs that were any food on them at all were just crumbs and a few pink stains from the rosewater baklava. "He's so hooked, he asked me the other day if we planned on having another." She ducked her eyes down, looking long at Xander, "but I argued it was a bit too soon. Little Xander's just opening up to the world."

Esmeralda laughed. As much as she loved kids, it would be a little too soon for Belle and Duncan to have another one. It was probably best to wait a year or two. "Well, if you ever decide to have another one, I'll throw you another awesome baby shower," she said with a grin.

"I don't know," Belle mumbled as she picked up both glasses to get the refill. She'd start the dishwasher for the plates and forks when her visit with her friend was done. "It's kind of hard to beat the baby shower you guys threw for me. It was super sweet and super unexpected. A little hard to cover>' The lemonade was back in the glasses, the golden-yellow sweetened liquid pouring out from the pitcher and she reutrned, holding them. "So how have rehearsals bee going? Are there any new routines?"

Esmeralda laughed. That baby shower had been pretty fun. Maybe she could just change things up a bit. If Belle had a little girl in the future, Esmeralda knew she was going to go crazy with the pink stuff. She took another sip of her lemonade before replying. "Well, we have been trying to incorporate a little more magic in our routines," she said. "Dad said it was something about appealing to all the witches running around Salem. I think our magic act has enough, but I don't mind dancing with a few flames every now and then."

"You know what would be interesting?" Belle suggested, "mimicking the tricks that started the whole chaos of the Salem witch trials, and maybe make a kind homage to the innocent people convicted like poor Dorcas Good. If you think about it, Tituba was just doing parlor tricks, but to the girls it was magic!" Things like an egg yolk stirred to make the shapes of your future could be mimicked well, especially given that Facilier's voodoo magic tied in well with the origins of the slave woman. Of course, making witchcakes was a bit much. Eating the urine of an innocent in a corncake? Disgusting. It was something Belle wouldn't wish on her worst enemies.

"Ooo, that sounds cool," Esmeralda said. "Dad and I could probably work that into the act." She was sure Facilier would be up for something like that. Heck, he was always open to new ideas, as long as he thought they would bring in some more money.

"A little education never hurt anyone. Especially when the education is presented in a fun way. It'll be a lesson for your dad...provided he," she grinned sheepishly and giggled. Yeah, Facilier was immortal, but having a lot of knowledge was another tackle entirely, "he already knows a lot of this probably..."

"He might. I don't know." Esmeralda shrugged. "He may not have even been in America at the time." Keeping track of where her father had been during which time period was confusing. Facilier might not even remember all the details himself. Wizards weren't supposed to be immortal. He was bound to forget a few things after living for centuries on end.
