"Ahh... I see..." Chihiro nodded in satisfaction. Well, no wonder that Shanti was good at using magic, like she had been taught indirectly by Dr. Facilier since her mother was taught by him. "Wow! It is possible that you can become strong as Mr. Ringmaster! Tee hee." Chihiro grinned broadly, totally showing pure naivety from what really magic was.

Chihiro seemed pretty impressed at what Shanti could do. Personally, Shanti still felt like she had a long way to go. "Oh, I don't know about that," she said. "My grandpa's lived for hundreds of years. I'll be lucky if a know a tenth of what he knows by the time I'm old."

"Woah! I never imagined that Mr. Ringmaster was really that old! I know he is immortal but... his age is the one I had no idea with..." Chihiro was really surprised. He thought that Mr. Ringmaster only lived for just one century yet, but adding "s" in "hundred" made him thought that he was even more centuries old. "B-But! Age doesn't matter in learning things! What matters is the determination to learn and become strong!"

"I know, right? He doesn't really look it," Shanti said. Facilier could still charm people if he wanted to with his suave mannerisms. Although her mom said he didn't do that so much anymore now that he had a wife. It felt weird, having a grandma that was still young-looking and pretty. But, she was an old soul just like Facilier, so Shanti figured they were the perfect match for each other. She nodded in agreement with what Chihiro said. If you were immortal, you might as well use your time to learn as much as possible and become the best person you could be.

Chihiro felt a bit envious. She kept on hearing her mentioning about living with a family. She imagined them as happy when they were together and even they were some people of unusual beings, it didn't matter at all as long you loved each other as family. With that, Chihiro abruptly clutched the end of her skirt. She kept on doing that when she was feeling insecure.
"...You are lucky..." Chihiro unintentionally - or unconsciously - blurted out.

Shanti blinked. She wasn't exactly sure what to say to that. She didn't see that her talking about her family so much was making Chihiro feel envious. "I guess," she replied, giving a little shrug. "But I like to think everyone gets their own family here, whether they're blood-related or not. Like, my mom's family doesn't include just me, my dad, and my grandpa and stuff. It includes her friends too, and their kids. We're all part of the circus family, in a way."

Chihiro went silent. "Family"? Yeah... She met King, Kiki, Andrew, Kasturi and many more members in the cirque. In their small interactions, Chihiro made friends. She didn't realized quickly, but somehow, Shanti was right. A genuine smile lifted, as she turned again to the young girl. "Yeah... Friends are like siblings with different parents, right? I guess this feeling is just making me blinded of friends I met here." she stated and then added, "We are one big happy family I guess," and there a chuckle had followed.

Shanti was glad to see Chihiro smile, at least a little bit. Shanti still wondered what was going on with her though. Did she have family issues or something? If she did, then Shanti wanted to make her feel as welcome as possible. She knew quite a bit of people at the circus didn't get along with their families. But, they still managed to make new ones here at the circus. Shanti was sure that Chihiro could do the same. "Yup, that's right," she said. "If you want, I can introduce you to some of my friends sometime. Then your new family here can get even bigger." Shanti was sure that Wendy and Arella would love to meet Chihiro. Aisling might be a little baffled by all the technology she worked with, but Shanti was confident that she would still think Chihiro was nice and stuff.

Chihiro's smile never faltered, "I would love to meet them sometime. And maybe someday, I can introduce you to my dad, too... If ever I would see him again..." Her eyes saddened a bit, but, she didn't entertained it. Chihiro got a whole toothily grin, "Now it makes me feel excited to meet your friends... Although I'm a lil bit boring to accompany with. My classmates usually avoids me because it is not usual to a girl to be good at math... Especially programming..." Chihiro believed to herself that she was not a fun-fun person, and that was her weakness.

Shanti's brow furrowed. It looked like Chihiro had gone through some rough stuff. Getting bullied was always rough, but it looked like something had happened to her dad too, something bad. "What happened to your dad?" she asked. "Is he okay?" Chihiro had said "if" when it came to seeing him again, so he wasn't dead. But, it didn't look like he was around either.

Chihiro almost flinched at the question. "Well... he is arrested and put to jail. Thanks to my good-for-nothing action," she emitted a small chuckle, a faint giggle. "I wish I haven't done it and now that's the cost of it." she didn't said the actual thing she did, but on her voice was only guilt. She did not like to entertain that much again so, "But, I will try to save my dad... even it will cost my own life." Chihiro sounded serious, which was revealing something odd around her.

"Oh jeez." No wonder Chihiro was so touchy about family. She had done something that had made her father end up in jail. "I'm sorry that happened to you," Shanti said. She didn't really know what else to say. True, she had lost her real parents, but she hadn't even really known them. And for all she knew, they could still be alive. Any number of circumstances could have led them to dropping her off at the orphanage. They could have died. They could have left her there in the hopes that somebody would take better care of her. They could have been heartless people who didn't want anything to do with their child. The possibilities were endless.

Chihiro felt the atmosphere fell in silence. She thought that she might be able to make the whole conversation a little wayward. However, she just emitted a small chuckle and lightened up the mood. "It's okay, There is nothing to... worry of... I'm sorry for feeling you bad if ever I did it... Sorry..."
"Uhhh..." she scratched her cheek, thinking on how to make the talk "comfortable" again, "...Uhm..." She was running out of options to say until, "...What about... you can tell something about yourself? I mean... Uhm... Nothing...!" Okay, Chihiro was now admitting that he really sucked at talking with people.

Chihiro seemed to instantly feel self-conscious when Shanti expressed sympathy and she instantly tried to change the subject. But Shanti felt like this was something you couldn't just sweep under the rug. This was Chihiro's dad for crying out loud! If Shanti were in her position, she'd be scared and worried too. "Hey, it's okay," she said, putting a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay to talk about it."

Feeling a pat on her shoulder, Chihiro looked at Shanti. Her newfound friend was really worried at her and that made him felt bad. She didn't want others to drag on her problem, actively or passively. She lived for so long without any friends around, and this sympathy from others was a new feeling to him.
She smiled in gratification, "Thanks but... If I'll just remain here without doing anything, things might be a little too late... I'm afraid of that possibility..." Chihiro pondered, "I don't want you to feel bad, Shanti..."
