Shanti was excited. Her mom had said that she only needed a little more training before she could perform on stage. Finally, her magic was going to be good enough to get her into the show. In her excitement, she had decided to visit the Main Performance Tent, just to check out her future performance space. Granted, she had been here plenty of times before, but it felt different now that she knew she was going to be on this stage soon. She could picture it now: the audience applauding for her, Facilier announcing her act, her mother by her side. She couldn't help but play pretend, just for a little bit.
"And now, we have a new act for you folks," Shanti said, imitating her grandfather's deep baritone voice. "A magic act that you've never seen before, performed by a girl you've never seen before. Give a round of applause, for Shanti!"
She imitated the crowd cheering for her as she gave a twirl, using a bit of her magic to make sparkles swirl around her.
"Thank you, thank you, you're too kind," she said, giving a wave.

"Okay... Just a little bit more screw..." Chihiro said while tightening a screw on a lighting device on the top of the large tent. Well, no one had the idea on how she got up there, but of course since she was a backstage helper, she found a way how. She created a temporary railings from the side until it formed a small runway at the top. Well, it seemed her problem was solved in order to implant her gadgets so her special effects would work. However, the railings looked weak and vulnerable since it was made from pieces of metal junks scattered around the cirque.
While rotating the screwdriver, her eyes landed below, seeing a black haired girl. Her brows frowned a bit, she never knew that kids were allowed to play inside the tent.
Chihiro even heard some voice a slightly similar to the Ringmaster, which she even giggled a bit that it was sounding not really him.
Sticking her vision down on the little girl, Chihiro watched her spinning around as her mouth gaped in awe when witnessing small sparkles dancing with her. Once again, the programmer was astonished from a magic since she couldn't perform one.
The small show had ended when hearing her saying "thank you" until Chihiro snapped back in reality, realizing that she needed to finish her work.
Sighing, "Guess need to finish this..." Chihiro continued to tighten the screw. She never noticed that her screw was pinning too deep that cause to the gadget to collapse. She must had forgotten that the tent top was really not a concrete one!
Chihiro tried to grasp on the falling device until it was going towards the little girl as her eyes widened in shock.
"WATCH OUT!" Chihiro screamed on the tip of her lungs!

Shanti looked up at the sound of a voice calling to her, and she was met with a large lighting device falling right towards her. Lucky for her, her magic reacted fast. It created a barrier of energy around her, which the device harmlessly bounced off of before landing on the stage. The magical barrier lowered, although Shanti's heart was still racing at a million miles a minute. She hadn't even known that somebody was up in the stage's rafters. She looked up and thought she could see a girl there, but she wasn't sure. "Is everything okay?" she asked. "No more stuff is gonna fall down, right?"

Chihiro felt her heart exploded when the device almost touch the younger girl, but, it was gradually shifted to a relief when it harmlessly bounced off nowhere. She seemingly amazed once again when the little girl managed to protect herself until she was snapped by a question below. "Uhh... Yeah! E-Everything is fine! N-Nothing will fall... I guess?" She answered back while doubting the last part. Deciding to go downstairs, Chihiro somehow still worried about the kid until she set foot on the stage.
Running towards her, "A-Are you okay there?! Does anything hurt—" She tripped over the broken lighting device and literally she dived on the floor. "Aw, aw... Not again!" She exclaimed to herself while trying to recover. Now she regretted panicking again.

The girl soon came down to get a better look at things. She seemed almost...masculine, in some ways, but Shanti didn't really worry about that. What worried her was that the girl seemed pretty anxious about the whole incident, even more than Shanti had been. "Hey, hey, it's okay," Shanti said, trying to use the soothing tone her mother often used when trying to calm her down. "I'm fine, you're fine, everything's good." She paused for a moment before adding "Well, except for that lighting thing. I guess that's a bit broken."

Chihiro sat up on the stage while brushing her head behind. "Ah hehe. Someone has seen my clumsiness again..." she murmured on herself, "T-That's pretty good to hear that you are alright! I forgot to be gentle on screwing that thing and I'm sorry I disturb your playing here..."
Chihiro stood up to check on the device and confirmed, it was broken. It was a common sense though from falling in a height. She just sighed while patting it, "Yep. It's broken. I'll be back to zero again..." She then lifted the device while turning to the kid, "Uhm, sorry again. I will just need to fix this again. You can resume your play now, I'm really sorry for disturbing you." She started to stride to the backstage since her toolbox was there. But before leaving, she gave one of her pleasing smile with a slight bow to the little girl.

The girl seemed to calm down slightly, even though she was still apologizing over and over. Shanti didn't want her to feel so anxious. Nobody had gotten hurt, after all. "Hey, I don't think we've met before," she said. "Are you new to the circus?" If this girl was new, maybe she needed a new friend. New friends always made people feel better, right?

Hearing the girl's question, Chihiro turned back to see her again. Well it was so rude if she would leave without saying her name right? Adding on that she was new here in the cirque. Might be she could stop her work for awhile and talk to her. Nothing would lost doing it anyway, besides, she had been doing things like this for most of her time actually.
Chihiro then smiled again, "Uhm... Yes I am. I entered the cirque just 5 days ago... I think?" She said, without being cautious. She strode near her and smiled, "My name is Chihiro Fujisaki anyway. Uhm... Nice to meet you Miss..." She was cut, realizing she didn't know her name yet.

"Chihiro...that's a pretty name. I like it." Shanti gave a smile. At least Chihiro wasn't so nervous now. Although granted, she still seemed a bit anxious. Shanti hoped she could put her at ease. "My name's Shanti. It's nice to meet you." She held out her hand for Chihiro to shake.

Chihiro blushed for a moment. "Uhm... Thank you... I guess...?" She was flustered because this was the first time where her name was complimented by someone in the cirque. She would commonly received praises like "nice", but saying it was pretty was a little too much on her. "A-Ah, nice to meet you, too, Shanti! Your name is pretty cool, too for me!" Chihiro accepted her hand and did some hand shake with the little girl. "It's cool to meet you again..." Chihiro was glad that it seemed like she would make a new friend again in the cirque.

Chihiro seemed surprised when Shanti called her name "pretty" but she accepted it nevertheless, as well as her handshake. It looked like she was slowly relaxing. "So, do you just work on the lights around here?" she asked. "Or do you do other backstage stuff too?"

"Uhm... Well, lighting is one of my assignments here... Sometimes I'm helping in the backstage stuffs when there is a show, but my main work here is to check all the devices scattered around here." She pointed some smoking devices from the sides, "and I'm taking care of them, too. Uhm... Well, I'm an effects technician here anyway since I can only do things with computers... My job is to conceal the performers with their magics so no one will ever notice they are real..." she elaborated her job as she scratching behind her neck. She thought her job wasn't that necessary anymore but this was the only skill she could offer in the cirque. "Uhh... Well, how about you...? I saw you producing some kind of magic awhile ago. I wonder, are you... a performer here, too?" she asked by remembering Shanti's small play before the accident happened.

"Wow. That sounds complicated," Shanti said. Technical stuff wasn't her strong suit. Sure, she knew how to work an iphone and a tablet, but fixing the lights and effects? That sounded hard. She felt like Chihiro must be pretty smart, to know how to do all that at such a young age. "I'm almost a performer," she replied. "My mom wants me to train a bit more in magic before I have my own act. But I'm really close, though."

Chihiro chuckled nervously, "Well... yeah it is complicated... I guess..." she rubbed her cheek with slight embarrassment. If the little girl only knew her past... Chihiro grew up with a parent who was a programmer.
"Almost?" she asked, "But I can see you are someone adept in magic anyway... For so I think... You quickly dodged the lighting and the magic glitters are beautiful!" Chihiro really admired magicians when she met a fairy. And for a young girl, Chihiro thought that learning magic was pretty easy for her. "I'm not sure though since I'm not a magician, but maybe your Mom is a great magician, too!"

"Well, she did learn from Facilier," Shanti said. "He's my grandfather. He knows tons of stuff, since he's lived for so long and stuff." Being an immortal wizard did have its perks, mainly of being able to learn tons of spells. Facilier probably knew more than any other wizard.
