Lisa wasn’t exactly sure what to do now. She hadn’t seen Disodo in a long while, and after their failed first date, wasn’t sure if she wanted to. Rive was who knew where and her other job was starting to hound her on bringing the little girl back. Not to mention the Strato Forms fiasco. So right now she was sketching. Or trying to. It had been a few years since she’d put a pencil to paper like this and was finding it hard to get back into the swing of things. She knew what she wanted to sketch (a flower) but she couldn’t translate what she was seeing to what she was drawing. Lisa finally sighed and closed the sketchbook. “Guess it’s just not a good day” she muttered to herself.

After the encounter in the barn, Captain America thought it best to get back to his patrols. It was a pleasant experience, far more than what he was expecting from his first 'casual' encounter with one of the Cirque members. He hoped it would help build a more stable relationship between them, and maybe help ease his conscience a bit.
As he was walking, he noticed a small flower that had grown in the middle of the dirt path in between tents. Naturally, he was sure to step over it, and avoid accidentally stepping on it. Then, he caught sight of a young woman a short distance away. He wasn't sure, but she might've been looking at him, so he ventured the best thing was to engage her.
"Ma'am," Captain America said, trying his best to manage a casual wave.

Lisa wasn't really focusing on anything when the man walked over her flower. She dimly noticed him, but as a sort of background part of the scenery. Lisa jumped slightly when he spoke, looking around for a moment before realizing he was talking to her. For a minute, Lisa had thought he was addressing an older woman. The young woman smiled wryly and stood up, brushing the dirt from her pants. "The only time I ever heard ma'am was when someone was addressing my mother" She told him, though with some joking humor. "Call me Miss or Lisa" He looked familiar, but she couldn't remember from where or why. Lisa offered him a handshake. "And you are...?"

Captain America gave a nervous chuckle at Lisa's joke; it made him feel a bit old fashioned. Then again, he did miss out on about 70 years of history.
"Steve Rogers," the Captain answered, lightly shaking the woman's hand, "pleasure to meet you, Miss Lisa."

Lisa smiled politely at him and firmly shook his hand. "Hello Steve, it's good to meet you too" He seemed a little abashed by her joke, which was a bit to be expected, though he did talk very...like he was from a completely different era. Not that she would be surprised anymore if he was. Well, that was a lie, but she would have at least seen it coming. Lisa tilted her head. "Sorry, I'm still new to the paranormal stuff, so if you take this as an insult again, sorry but...Are you a time traveller?" She was blushing lightly from embarrassment. She sounded ridiculous!

Steve gave a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his head, "Well, not exactly...Would you believe me if I said I was frozen in ice for 70 years?"
He wouldn't blame her if she didn't believe him; he scarcely believed it himself.

She stared, blinked, took a deep breath and finally nodded. “I wouldn’t have six months ago. But I’m looking after a little girl who seems to be literally friends with the weather and I went on a date with a shapeshifting hellhound. Being frozen for over half a century isn’t the weirdest thing I have had to cope with here” and for what it was worth she felt she was doing really well, too. This was unbelievable and against everything she told herself, but it was something she could cope with. “Can I ask how you got yourself frozen for a bit over half a century?”

Steve couldn't help but feel a bit awkward; he never felt comfortable talking about his different missions.
"Well, it's...a bit of a strange story," Steve said, doing his best not to baffle her too badly, "let's just say it involved a rocket vehicle that exploded, and me landing in arctic waters near the North Pole. By all counts, I really should be dead, but...well, that comes with the territory of being Captain America."
His face became a bit sullen upon mentioning his alter-ego; considering how long ago it was, he doubted Lisa had even heard of 'Captain America'.

She blinked and then shrugged. You're right. That is a strange story" she sort of knew the story of Captain America, but she'd thought he was a made-up story. He was in some old comics or something. "You're what those classic comics were based on, right?" she bit her lip; he looked so sad about things that she touched his arm lightly for a moment. "Hey, it's okay. I know that this is a bit different, but I was suddenly introduced to a world of fairy-tales and supernatural things, which I didn't know existed. Everything I thought I knew was different. I guess it's a little like you waking up in a different time, right?" sort of, maybe, not really. She hoped he didn't get mad at the weak attempt to emphasize with him

Steve was pulled from his thoughts when he felt Lisa's touch on his arm. Looking at her as she spoke, he could tell she was doing her best to set him at ease. He certainly appreciated it, and responded with a light smile. It was a bit odd to hear that he was turned into a comic book, but not entirely unexpected, all things considered.
"I appreciate the kind words, Miss," Steve replied, "always nice to meet a new friendly face."
His thoughts then turned to how Lisa spoke of the cirque; as he thought back to when she mentioned her being introduced to the world of the supernatural, he began to become curious about this young woman.
"If you don't mind me asking," Steve asked, "how did you come to find this place?"

Lisa smiled a bit. Well, he appreciated the attempt at least, weak as it was. "Same, captain. Friendly faces aren't always so easy to find" which she could really relate to. Sometimes, it felt like the whole world hated her. Lisa started at the question and smiled a little self-consciously. "I'm a service coordinator. There's a little runaway here I was sent to bring back to the orphanage she ran away from but well...Rive belongs here. The weather is literally her best friend. And the man looking to adopt her is a hellhound. So I'm around here till the adoption goes through or they send another agent to bring us both home" Lisa laughed a little. "Not really the most amazing way to find out about the supernatural. They gave me pancakes and explained the whole thing while I sat there dumbfounded"

"I can imagine," Steve said with a light chuckle.
Lisa's story reminded him of when he was first briefed on the supernaturals. At first, he'd thought his superiors had gone crazy. Then, after seeing the photos, he'd begun to wonder if he was the one going crazy. Finding out about these sort of things was never easy on a human.
"I'm actually amazed you've managed to find a way to cope," Steve commented, "I mean, the supernatural bit aside, it sounds like you've got quite a problem on your hands."

She smiled at the chuckle. "I'm sure you can, Captain" he had been frozen for over half a century. That...was probably pretty jarring for him. Worse than her, who'd only found out from two people who had been halfway attempting to ease her into it. Lisa shrugged at his last comments. "Rive and Disodo have been helping me, and people here are really very kind" she rubbed her arm and nodded, sighing. "Yes. My superiors are getting rather...demanding that I bring Rive back, and since they don't deal with the supernatural, I can't exactly explain everything that has been going on" she sighed again. "I'm honestly trying, though"

Steve's brow furrowed a bit. That was quite an issue; if the existence of the supernaturals ever got out into the public, no doubt everyone would have questions. And life for people here, including that young girl, Rive, would get even more complicated than it already was. In a way, his problems almost seemed trivial compared to her's. Not many ordinary people could handle situations like this.
Quickly putting on a friendly smile, Steve placed a comforting hand on Lisa's shoulder, "Miss, if it's help you need, I'd like to offer my services. I have...friends with friends in high places. I could have one of them pull some strings, make your job a little less stressful. I mean, if it's alright with you, that is."

She stared at him, taken aback by the offer, and then smiled. "Such a gentleman. If you think you can help me, by all means go for it. I'm trying to be more open to help as well as magic" she'd grown up entirely relying on herself, and dealing with her own issues without anyone for support. But Rive was opening up the idea of needing support, and here was someone who was offering it to her. "If Disodo doesn't adopt Rive, I probably will myself. But I need an extension to get everything sorted out" a week or two extra would be amazing in the long run.
