Belle seemed to only get sharper as time went on. Duncan had noticed the quizzical look in her eye at the sight of the expensive fizzy drinks. She knew osmething was up, but luckily for him she didn't seem to know quite what it was. He carefully clinked their glasses together, nodding. "To us," he agreed, repeating the simplified version of her toast. Then came the gasp, and his heart raced faster. Anxiety and excitement swirled within him. His hand even trembled a bit as he held it over her glass. Almost like a magnet, the agniastarte ring lifted from the drink and into his awaiting palm on his mental command. He took a moment to calm himself before speaking. He didn't want to fumble and mess this up.
"Belle," he began, taking the ring between his two fingers and holding it before her, "you're the best thing that ever happened to me. It isn't possible for me to imagine a happy life without you in the picture. You're my soulmate, everything I could ask for in a friend and lover, and I want to be with you forever. Your father and godmother gave me their blessings, so..." He got down to the floor on one knee, staring up at his soulmate with longing and admiration along with a hint of anxiety. Now was the time. Now or never. Yes or no. His mouth was dry from nervousness and he swallowed a bit. "Belle Leroux, honorary princess of Hylia, will... will you marry me?"

Flashbacks of the first time he confessed how he felt whirled through Belle's mind. It was much more...well, more thought out this time. Clearly he had been preparing for a long time. The Agniastrate - how else could Duncan have made it float from the champagne - landed with excellence into his waiting palm. All that camr to turn when Duncan was in front of her on one knee. Belle turned bright pink. All these men had chased her before, but none of them ever had the guts to propose to her. Well, Gaston, but that was different than this. This was the fairytale ending to every book. What had happened to most of her friends. Now it was happening to her. Her heart roared in her ears, the fire in her face seemed to get brighter, and her vision blurred with unshed tears of happiness. "Yes." Her answer was to the point. No point in tormenting Duncan with waiting after he had done all of this for her. That was why Zelda and Moses had sent them away; they knew he was going to propose to her. To ask for her hand in marriage. "Yes!" Belle repeated, hugging Duncan with a ringing laugh.

All anxiety washed away in one long moment once Duncan heard the word he had been dying to hear for what felt like his entire life. Yes. She said yes. She said yes! Duncan's arms instinctively threw themselves around her when she dove down at him to hug him. He laughed, hugging her tight against him. If this was a dream, he really really didn't want to wake up. He pulled her off of him only long enough to slip the ring onto her finger, then stood and brought her up to him into a loving kiss. The nearby guests clapped and cheered, and even some employees joined in on it. Duncan was on cloud nine, and nothing could bring down his mood.

The pink jewel in the ring winked in the venue's setting. In the dim glow, it seemed to glow brighter based on the couple's happiness. Belle had always imagined what it was like to be proposed to. And it have it be by someone who loved her was even more special. Once Duncan kissed her, she knew this was not some imagination. Belle kissed his back, whispering "You sneak," amid a break.
