D'eon looked over at the boat, grabbing the dock to help him keep afloat as he had been swimming on his own for awhile. "Of course, some of us have to work to get girls, remember?" The vampire teased. He smiled a bit and climbed up the dock, sitting on the edge as he pulled his hair over to one side. He started to wring out his hair, twisting it and watching as the water trickled down in a circular motion. He brushed it behind him and watched Clopin for a bit, before turning to see Disodo.
The hell hound seemed intrigued by something, his attention completely away from the water bunch. There was a shadow on the beach, looming over the sand like a king among beasts. Disodo's ears flipped forward as he stared at the apparition. The shadow lost form as Disodo stared at it, the mist across the beach that sank down from the forest was making it harder to see. Once the mist was a manageable cloud that dipped low, Disodo could make out four legs on the shadow and what seemed like- horns! The hell hound rose is a hurry, the fur on his back standing straight up. He shook his fur, somehow concealing his horns, as if they had naturally sunk into his head. Disodo started growling at the shadow, taking a defensive stance between it and the others. D'eon approached and put a hand on Disodo, only to be snapped at. The hell hound's snarl was frightening and his bite was nothing to laugh about. Disodo nipped at D'eon, then put his ears back. He remembered why he was so on edge and looked back toward the beach.
The distraction must have been only ten seconds, but nonetheless, when he looked back, a man stood but five feet from them. D'eon was already shaking a bit from Disodo's change in behavior, knowing dogs had a certain six sense about them. He jumped back at the stranger, readying himself in case he attacked, what was this man? Where did the shadow go?
"It's late, shouldn't you delinquents be at home?" The man asked, stepping toward them and into the light of the dock lanterns. The man was short and fit, but his eyes told of a long history. His hair was short and he wore a green cape that concealed most of his upper body.

"Oh ... taking tha' sailor approach, are we?" Clopin smirked at D'eon. He wanted to say something else, but his mind was too slow for his usual wit. A part of him wanted to go back in the water even though it was cold. He wanted to lay on his back with his hands rested on his stomach and just drift out to sea like a floating wanderer. Maybe meet some mermaids and sharks. His smirk widened into a lazy smile, and he turned to look at his dog companion. Odd enough, Disodo looked very alert. His sturdy hound legs were square and stiff; his face and the direction of his ears screamed alertness. The dog looked like he was spooked out by something. Clopin wondered if it was a ghost; animals could supposedly see spirits and other things invisible to the human eye. Or even worse, it could have been another vampire. Clopin didn't feel he was in the state of mind for properly killing something right now, and his pride didn't want him to appear useless in front of the others.
Disodo snapped at D'eon, snarling and nipping like an agitated beast in the heat. Clopin's brow furrowed. Why was Disodo acting this way? "Disodo, what's going on?" Clopin asked. He approached the hound, but not close enough where Disodo could try and bite at him. Clopin didn't want to get his hand gnawed off just because the dog was bothered by something. He looked out to the shadows in the hopes that he could see whatever Disodo was looking at. Then, rather eerily, a man stepped out into the light. The dock lanterns, the bright moon in the sky, and the faint sound of crickets made Clopin feel like he was in a horror movie. Three men partying by a beach and ready for slaughter. Clopin looked to the stranger in annoyance. He wasn't scared so much as confused, and quite frankly, he didn't like the insult that had carried out with the man's voice. "What's it to ya?" Clopin snapped. "Ever hear of minding your own business, buddy?"

D'eon looked between Clopin and Disodo, maybe he knew more about the hell hound when he was in natural form. D'eon didn't meet with Disodo much when he was in this state, having often talked with him in human form. He wondered if it was normal for the dog to lash out when stressed. D'eon knew any normal dog would, so perhaps Disodo was just slave to his natural instincts.
The hell hound flicked his ears forward at Clopin's words, but they returned back back the stranger stepped forward again. Disodo didn't like the movement at all, barking and snapping for a second to warn him. He pulled his lip up to reveal his teeth, staring at the man as if he was being cornered and poked with a stick. The shorter man looked to Clopin with a bored expression, then flicked his eyes back to the hound, not phased by the violent display. "In my day, a hell hound was not so bold as to reveal his horns, let alone his true form." He spoke more to himself then anything else, looking over the dog's massive body. "You must have been raised by a monster to boldly growl at me. But, now that I look at you-" He got closer, even daring to lower himself to stare the dog in the eyes. "-You go remind me of her. You're eyes, they're the same."
Disodo's lip fell over his teeth and his ears pulled forward. The stranger was daring to be bitten, but his words had taken the hound elsewhere. Disodo stepped back from him, lowering his head a bit in submission. "H-her?"
The stranger rose and looked at D'eon and Clopin, sniffing the air. "Blood and vomit, let me guess- a vampire and the jester at the local circus? I've watched a show or two, not bad, but your living conditions, props, and overall performance is filthy. I'm certain you carry thousands of diseases with you." He stated, crossing his arms.

Disodo growled and snapped at the stranger, as he should have. Clopin wasn't going to stop him; if he was a dog, he would have been baring his teeth too. The stranger mumbled some sort of nonsense about hell hounds, then drew closer to Disodo. Clopin's stance tensed; his hands balled into fists, and he held them up by his waist with rounded shoulders. He was ready to attack if he had to. Clopin could be a protective drunk. On the night he and Harley briefly lost their memories, he could vaguely recall himself panicking clumsily when she had gotten sick. In the current case with Disodo and the man, Clopin was watching to make sure the man didn't try any cruel tricks with the hound. The way the stranger was bent down, Clopin could have easily dropkicked them. He was certainly tempted to anyway.
Disodo backed away, which made Clopin step forward protectively. He looked down at the confused hound then back up at the man. Clopin had found the diseases comment to be extremely insulting. Considering that he had lived in poverty, and that he had lived as a vagabond, that sort of comment struck a sensitive spot with him. If there was anything Clopin hated with a passion, it was condescension. "Always nice to have a fan," he said snidely. "And I don't believe you're in a position to judge us. 'Specially when you're the one frolicking around in a cape and talking to people ya don't know." His eyes were fierce. The night made them look pure black, and the moonlight reflected in them on harsh angles.

D'eon crossed his arms, nodding at Clopin's words. The vampire king didn't feel the need to say much, as Clopin seemed to have the right angle. He was curious as to why Disodo was acting this way, though, and wondered if he knew this person. A dog could be suddenly aggressive and the next minute cowardice to someone who had abused them previously. D'eon worried this was the case. Disodo never took his eyes away from the man, in fact, he started to ease up. The hell hound's muscles started relaxing and he took on a more curious edge to his stance. He was aware of his friend's comments, as well as how Clopin seemed to step into the alpha position protectively.
The stranger frowned at the comment, "On the contrary, simpleton, I know one of you more than they know themselves." His eyes wondered away from Clopin and back to the dog. He bent down to Disodo's level again, even below, as Disodo was a tall dog. "When did they domesticate you?" This time, his voice was soft and almost loving like a mother to her child. He reached out a hand to Disodo. The hell hound put his ears back again and was hesitant, moving just of the hand's reach. The man retracted his hand and unbuttoned his cape, removing it from his back. He was wearing a cravat along with a white dress shirt. He threw the cape toward the dog, then turned. "Remember my name, it's Levi." He waited as if expecting them to say something. Disodo looked at Levi, then down at the cape. He dipped his head and breathed in the scent. There was something so familiar about it.

Oh, this was just getting terribly annoying and inconvenient. Clopin started to roll his jacket sleeve up his forearm, shaking his head slightly with frustration. He was just about ready to stalk forward and teach the man a lesson when the stranger focused their attention on Disodo again. Clopin had taken a step forward, but he stopped. The man was talking to Disodo as if he were trying to coax a frightened dog out of a corner. Clopin's eyes narrowed, shifting back and forth between the two, and he slowly started to relax. The sleeve of his jacket slackened and fell back down to his wrist. So this man knew Disodo? Was he an old owner? Either way, the hell hound didn't seem to recognize them. At least there didn't appear to be any signs of danger. The man, who said his name was Levi, tossed his cape aside. Clopin was glad for that since it was an atrocious piece of fabric. It was his Parisian background that tended to be critical of such things. In true dog fashion, Disodo bent down to sniff at it. "Do ... do you know this guy, Disodo?" Clopin asked cautiously.

The stranger smiled a bit, but turned his head before Disodo could catch it. He walked off, hands in his pocket. The light left Levi's shoulders and made him a shadow again. Disodo looked at Clopin, then back to Levi's shadow. The dark figure was shorter now and seemed like it walked on four legs. The hell hound stared for awhile, inching closer as if he longed to chase after Levi. Suddenly he felt something soft under paw and looked down. The cape laid under his steps, so he bent his nose and examined the scent again. Clopin's question rang in his ears, but he didn't know how to answer it. Of course he didn't know this man. He had never seen him before, right? Disodo's nose dove deeper in the clothe until he had to lower on his legs. His whole muzzle became engulfed in the fabric and he rubbed his nose around to take in the scent. He fell upon the green lining and bathed in Levi's oh so distant, but familiar, scent. He paused and blinked, realizing he was under the cape now. "No, I've never met him before- or maybe I have? Once upon a time... But, I don't remember." Disodo answered at last.
D'eon walked forward, passed the others, to the end of the dock. "You know, he did know a lot about hell hounds. Maybe he's your replacement?" D'eon wondered, knowing Oedipus would probably have been on the look out for one.
Disodo shook his head, "I don't think so... There's something in his scent that makes me feel young. Innocent... It's strange, but I feel like I'm home." He smiled and laid his head down, closing his eyes.

Clopin felt like he had only looked away for a moment before the stranger was gone. Levi had left his cape with Disodo, who continued to sniff away at it. The scent really must have been pleasing to the dog, because the next thing Clopin knew, Disodo was rolling around in it like a cat with catnip. Clopin's eyebrows raised. "Okay then ... that guy must use a really good cologne or something. You sure like that cape." His mouth finally stretched up into a grin. It had felt like ages since he had last smiled even though Levi hadn't lingered very long. Disodo now looked like Green Riding Hood with the cape cloaking his head and body. Disodo admitted he didn't know who the man was, but there was uncertainty in the hound's voice. Clopin supposed that could be a curse of immortality. One could forget a face in a normal lifetime let alone living hundreds of years. He approached Disodo and knelt down, eyeing the cape curiously. With his inferior human nose, he couldn't smell anything. "Family friend, maybe?" Clopin shrugged a shoulder. "While he clearly didn't like D'eon and me, he seemed a little soft with you ..."

Disodo looked up, "Family?...But I don't have any.." He whispered, closing his eyes. D'eon walked to the hound and put his hands down, lifting his friend into his arms along with the cape. D'eon seemed rather strong, but foolish lifting such a large hound. Disodo blinked, unsure why he was being picked up, but suddenly feeling sleepy in the air. Disodo closed his eyes again and started breathing easier. D'eon turned to Clopin, "Come on, we better get back." He suggested. He lead the way off the dock, carrying a sleeping Disodo against his chest. He left the cloak over the dog to conceal him from the outside world.
(( End thread? ))

How D'eon was able to pick a large dog like Disodo up, and why exactly the doctor was doing that, Clopin would never know. Disodo somehow managed to look like a puppy the way he was bundled in the cape like it was a blanket. The only thing visible from the dog were his large paws hanging towards the ground. Clopin would not say this out loud, but he found it quite cute. He could have doted over Disodo right now like he did with his pet hyenas. "All right," he said, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He followed after D'eon. It had been a long night, but still a fun one. As soon as they returned to the cirque, Clopin would shower, brush his teeth, gargle a ton of mouthwash, and then collapse into his bed in hopes of a long sleep.
