(Part 1)
Delta-4's brow furrowed, the being she focused on, Thunder, was more than first anticipated. The wave of thunder he fired back at her slowly began to overpower her energy blast. Still, she could tell he was holding back. No doubt an effort to minimize any chance of collateral damage. It was a weakness she could exploit. After gritting her teeth, she responded to Thunder's attack with an overwhelming surge of red energy. Almost immediately, the power struggle shifted in her favor, quickly pushing Thunder's attack back. Thunder dug his heals in as the force pushed him slightly backwards. The power Delta-4 was firing at him was almost overwhelming. During the struggle, he noticed sparks of red energy flying off his opponent's beam. He could see them fly every which way, threatening to start a fire. He had to end this quickly, or the whole cirque would burn to the ground.
Thunder took a deep breath, and took a step forward, harnessing more of his power. Letting out a loud cry, he released a massive blast of sound. The attack was more than enough to blow the incoming energy beam away, and knocked Delta-4 right off her feet. The resulting shockwave blew out the small flames in the immediate area. Thunder let out a heavy sigh, that last attack took quite a bit of power out of him. Still, he wasn't out of the fight yet.
"Stay down!" Thunder shouted at Delta-4's fallen form, "I do not wish to harm you anymore than I have to!"
For a moment, it seemed liked Delta-4 was indeed beaten. But then, she slowly began to rise up. As she did so, it became apparent that her body had become twisted and contorted from the blast of sound, and metallic snaps could be heard as she straightened herself, her limbs popping back into the appropriate sockets. A gash on the side of her face revealed the metal skeleton underneath. As the wound began to close itself, the look on Delta-4's face had become dark as she zeroed in on Thunder. As soon as she was upright, and properly fixed, she hunched over, preparing for a full sprint. Thunder had proven himself capable in long-distance combat. The next logical step was to attempt to go for a close quarters fight. Thunder could see what she was about to do, and assumed a fighters stance, an open palm in front, with a closed fist at his side.
Just then, a shot rang out. Delta-4's head flinched sideways from the impact of a bullet against her right temple. It did no damage, but she felt compelled to find the source of the gun shot. She turned her head, and all of a sudden, her ugly scowl became a wide-eyed look of surprise. A small distance from where she stood, Alpha-7 stood in plain view, a smoking pistol in her hand. Thunder recognized her as another member of Team-X, and while he was pleased to have some help in the fight, he was also worried about her well being.
"Be careful," Thunder called out, "she's much more-!"
"It's okay," Alpha-7 replied, lowering her gun, "I've got this."
Alpha-7's eyes remained locked on Delta-4, who had now turned to face her full on. In those few seconds, it seemed like they were the only two people on the planet. Alpha-7 remembered when she last saw her old friend, the android she knew as "Dee", a nickname she had given her a long time ago. She had gone berserk, and it was Stark who had finally managed to over power her, and bring her down. She remembered looking down on her battered body, and she remembered making a promise to her before she lost consciousness: 'Don't worry, Dee. We're gonna fix you, you'll be good as new soon enough. You'll see.'
For a moment, it seemed like Delta-4 was too stunned to respond. She simply stood there, her face blank and hard to read. Alpha-7's face, however, remained steely and hard. She knew what she had to do. Timing was going to be important, but if she pulled it off just right, she'd be able to end this quickly and with both of them coming out alive. She started walking slowly towards her, keeping her eyes trained on her target. Delta-4 responded by assuming a defensive stance, both arms up in front of her, and her hands clenched into fists. Alpha-7 followed Delta-4's eyes. She could see her pupils focusing more closely on the gun in her hand. That was good, her combat systems would be more focused on the immediate threat, she was counting on that. As she got closer, she could see Delta-4's face become darker, her scowl slowly returning to her. The shock was starting to wear off, and her rage-fueled instincts would soon take over. Time was short.
As soon as she was withing striking range, Alpha-7 made her move. She started to raise her hand, and as she did so, her fingers relaxed their grip, and the gun fell out of her grasp. In the milliseconds that followed, she could see Delta-4's eyes follow the gun as it tumbled to the ground. That was the opening she needed; she followed up with her other hand, closed her eyes, and tossed a small marble into Delta-4's face. The marble exploded in a flash of light, just inches away from her face. Delta-4 stumbled backwards, her vision lost to her momentarily by the flash. Alpha-7, on the other hand, opened her eyes, and saw her opportunity. In a single, fluid movement, she grabbed the knife concealed by her coat, and jabbed it into her right side. It was the exact spot where her power core was located, the 'Omega Engine', the part that caused her to lose herself in the first place. Stark had always insisted he could fix the glitches that came from the part, but Alpha-7 knew better. You can't replicate demon energy and expect it to work perfectly.
As soon as the blade pierced her side, a surge of red energy spilled out from the wound, and Delta-4 let out a loud shriek. Bolts of electricity arched along her body as the engine began to shut down. Alpha-7 felt a sharp pain as the bolts traveled up her arm through the knife lodged in Delta-4's side. She grit her teeth, bearing the pain as best as she could, then jerked the knife sideways, slicing the a portion of the engine and shutting down the power supply. The sound of a dying hum could be heard as Delta-4's shrieking finally ceased. All at once, her body became limp, and she fell to the ground, her eye's slowly becoming dim. But before she hit the ground, her eyes connected with Alpha-7's, and a single word escaped her lips.
"...Sis...?"
