Sasha walked into the eating tent. She felt lethargic in the African heat. Ever since she was a puppy she had found that when she was away from water for an extended period of time she was drained. She nosed open one of the containers of food looking for something to eat. Nothing really appealed to her other than what looked like an old rib bone with some meat on it. She grabbed it, kicked the door closed, walked over to a corner of the tent where she could watch the people enter the tent and began to chew on the bone.

Food. That's what Loreley was craving. She didn't care what it was as long as she got it. Having spent a couple of hours practicing her act and then exploring little bits of Kenya, the elf needed food. It was strange to see that the cooking tent was empty, normally it was full of people chatting and having a good time.
Maybe it was just one of those days. The only other creature in the tent was a dog who was busy gnawing on a rib bone. "Excuse me." she said as she made her way to the fridge, looking at all the food before grabbing an apple. "Hope I didn't disturb you."

Sasha looked up from her bone when a new voice spoke to her. "Oh you're fine, you didn't disturb me." She said. "Looks like I'm not the only one who needs food at this moment. As beautiful as Africa is, the heat and lack of large bodies of water is killing me." She said conversationally.

"Tell me about it." Loreley said with a smile. Talking dogs were not anything new anymore. "I am glad we are moving again but this is not the place I was thinking of. Right now, I would kill for some snow or rain. Anything to cool off." She wiped some sweat from her forehead as she grabbed a bottle of water.

"I know right?" Sasha said returning the smile. "Being part siren and away from water isn't a good mix." She picked up the bone and walked closer to Loreley. "Name's Sasha, Irish setter and 30% siren." She said sitting next to Loreley. Sasha was always more comfortable with girls since her powers didn't affect them.

"Hi, I'm Loreley, Loreley Salazar." she said, glad to have some company. It was strange but her family noticed that she barely had had any girl friends, it was like her motherly instincts were drawn to boys, maybe because they were such troublemakers. "I am part elf and I guess you could say I am part spirit, being blessed by Aquarius I am not sure what to call that."
She couldn't help but wonder what it was like being a siren. Especially for a dog. "I never thought about a dog being a siren, I always thought it was a mermaid thing."

"Yeah I'm kind of an anomaly." Sasha said. "Mother comes from a long line of Siren dogs, that were crated by the first Siren to increase the hunting range of her kind. As far as I know I'm the only one aside from Mother still alive." She explained. "So I have some ties to the water since part of my bloodline is mermaid technically. And because of my power, I tend to keep to myself for fear of hurting guys."

She knew about sirens for sure, but didn't know that there had been one that could make others. That was interesting. "I am sure that you have a lovely singing voice though." she said smiling. That much she knew about sirens, that they had lovely singing voices, of course most of the stories led sailors to their doom but that was nothing to be bothered about. It was a little sad to learn about avoiding guys. "Have you managed to make a nice life here at the circus?"

Sasha blushed slightly, or at least the dog equivalent of blushing. "Yes I have. And I do sing but not to ensnare anyone, but thankfully Facilier managed to make a charm that allows me to sing without hurting anyone. And I've made a few friends. What about you?"

Loreley titled her head, "Me?" she asked pointing at herself. "Well, I come from a family of elves, well, an elf and a necromancer." Was that the best way to describe her father? He helped people after all, connect with their loved ones, he had the power to change into anyone including the dead. "My siblings gained their powers, while I am kind of my own separate person. But so far the people here are really nice."

Sasha's eyes sparkled in interest as Loreley described her family. Her eyes grew wistful as the young elf talked about her siblings. Sasha had been an only child. Plus because of her powers she didn't have many friends, or at least not for very long. "What's it like having siblings?" She asked.

Loreley gave a small laugh "It's a rollercoaster." she said, the smile on her face growing a bit bigger. "Even though I am not the eldest, it feels like it, I watch over all of them even my older brother. He's a good kid, but sometimes he forgets things. I guess being the middle sibling isn't as bad as others make it out to be." she frowned thinking about it. "It can be fun and frustrating but in the end, its still a family. One big crazy family."
She couldn't help but wonder what it was like being an only child though. "What about you? Do you like being the only child?"

"At first it was kind of nice." Sasha said wistfully. "But as I got older, I got lonely. And because of my power, friends were ...... difficult to maintain." She said. "Yeah they were easy to make, but keeping them, that was an entirely different story." Hoping to change the subject she asked. "Guessing by your name you have some power similar to a siren's right?"
