Belle swung her empty basket while wandering through the rows of 'houses'. From the outside,k they looked like generic boring tents made of thick white tarp. However, inside, the white cloth revealed living conditions fit for the couples who lived in them. Belle had been visiting Esmeralda and Aladdin's tent then, checking up on her closest friend; the basket was once filled with fresh bread like she and her mother used to make back in France as a 'welcome back' gift. The pink gem of her Agniastrate ring winked in the sun, which brought her to the present.
Duncan and her were engaged.
And there was no announcement, no big reveal, no anything. Belle was relieved deep down, as she knew people who jump immediately on board to organize an event that wouldn't be as special. And it brought a thought that she didn't think about at all. She and him would be under the same, er, roof in a manner of speaking, possibly raising a family. Time went by in its funny way, speeding up. Years ago, she had been a French wrangler looking for work. But now, she was the head animal trainer at a magical circus, unofficial 'dragon mother' and the bride to be of a half-Kaiju. She brushed a lock from her eyes like she had done before.

Duncan had been wandering around for half an hour trying to find Belle. She hadn't been in the animal tent and according to the girls, she wasn't in the female sleeping quarters, either, so he was asking around to see if anyone had seen her. Finally, he spotted her as he turned a corner. The sight of her after nearly a month in the Kaiju realm caused an immense relief. The Agniastarte embed in his chest lit up with a warm glow as he approached her from behind.
"Boo," he whispered in her ear, grinning impishly. The half-Kaiju wrapped his arms around her from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder. "I missed you."

A pair of masculine arms wrapped around Belle's waist, which made her yelp a tiny bit in surprise. But that yelp gave way into a giggle when she recognized the person playfully grabbing her by the husky voice, like a fire burning in a hearth. Duncan rested his head on her shoulder, to which she pecked him on the cheek. There had a been of lag in the time they were spending together, especially for an engaged couple, but then again a lot had happened. "As did I. You don't even know."

The kiss to his cheek made Duncan smile more. He remained in that embrace for several moments before releasing Belle and walking around so that they faced one another. He took this opportunity to just look at her. She got more beautiful every time they had to be apart. There was always something different he would notice in particular about her. This time, it was her smile. The jewel in his chest pulsed a content pink at the sight of it.
"I'm sorry I had to leave," he said, taking her hands in his. "I felt horrible for leaving you to deal with readjustment so soon after... well, everything, but I couldn't say no to Belloc. Did my mom do her medical-thing and make sure you got better?"

Belle glanced down at their hands entertwining with a serene smile. She had never seen how they looked, but looking at them now - so different yet so lovingly curled around one another; she couldn't believe they would be getting married in the future - she realized how unusual yet perfect their relationship was. At his question, she answered, "Kind of. I was sidetracked in making sure everyone else was okay, particularly Esmeralda. But then your mom pulled me aside and did her 'medical thing'. I was so wrapped up in the moment that I didn't even realize I had been healed until later."

Duncan chuckled softly. "That does sound like you," he said with a hint of a sigh in his voice. He stared down at their hands, watching her ring glimmer from their close proximity for several moments, then glanced up at their surroundings. They were at the row of 'houses' designated to certain members of the circus. They certainly didn't look like houses from the outside, but Duncan knew better. Looks were deceiving. And the fact that the owner ofthe circus was a centuries-old magic user certainly gave a very big sense of truth to that saying.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you," he began, looking back to Belle with a smile, "I put in a request for a house for us. Well-- my mom did, technically. While I was away, I sent her a letter containing my written request, and she got it to Facilier for me. We can probably go confirm it at any point."

Belle started at Duncan with skepticism. All that on his own? Even after the awkwardness his mom and him had been having? It was a sweet gesture enough though and her skeptics melted to one of delight. "You got us a request for our own house?" She kissed him full on with every bit of happiness she could express. "Oh, Duncan! You're so sweet!" Her face was glowing pink at her actions and she dug her toe in the ground. "I guess...now's the whole big thing. We're getting married, raising a family...I'm gttting giddy thinking about it."
Suddenly her hazel eyes widened. "Oh my God! I just realized. With all that happened - Strato Form, Belloc, Aladdin and Esme's wedding - we've forgotten to think about our own plans!:

"Mmph!" Duncan was caught by surprise with the kiss, but within a second he was kissing back, a chuckle sounding in his throat. His arms wrapped around Belle's waist and he laughed. "You're cute when you blush," he stated, and gave a peck to her nose. Though at her mention of raising a family, his own cheeks turned red. Of course the thought had crossed his mind a few times-- mostly due to Belloc mentioning the crucial need for an heir once Duncan took the throne-- but still, to hear Belle say it out loud, he felt a little... well, nervous. And embarrassed. Mostly nervous. His family wasn't exactly normal, nor was his track record with patience or dealing with emotionally overwhelming issues exactly encouraging. To think about the inevitability of having children was both exciting and terrifying.
When Belle suddenly exclaimed their lack of actual plans for the wedding, he blinked. "Oh, crap, you're right," he said, slapping his palm to his face. "We'll have to get started, then. Oh! We could do that right now." He led Belle to a patch of grass for them to sit on. Always the gentleman, he removed his jacket and placed it down for her with a smile.

That wave of common nervousness passed over both Duncan and Belle simultaneously. No doubt Belloc would want a tough heir, but a quarter-Kaiju may nit exactly cut the standards. But aside from a strict father in law, more questions arose. Would they be able to actually have children? What if they took up the Gaara-Raven relationship and ended up with twins? What if they had more? Belle shook the thoughts aside as they were dragged into the shade to talk.
Like always, Belle was curled up on Duncan's jacket, her long skirt folding over itself. "So...what do you think is the first important matter?"

Duncan hummed in thought for a few seconds. He scooted a bit closer to her, the smile never leaving his lips. "Location. Do you want the wedding here, at a church, at a beach? None of the above?"

Belle looked out at the rows of tents, listening to Duncan;s suggestions. Thank Hylia he didn't suggest any other places in mind, The three chpices were all ideal, though Belle could make a few arguments against a few. "Well...if we're inviting family and friends that could harm innocent people, I think a church would be out. And with all the excitement involving marriages here, maybe we don't want to continue the curse of 'awkward weddings'" she laughed dryly, brushing a hair from her eyes. "So I guess none of the above..." She looked down sadly. But looking out again, another thought crossed her mind.
"This might be a bit of a stretch, but...why not the grounds of my old cottage? It's quaint, quiet, convienent for picking up whatever, no one will bother us, and it can fit enough people who want to come."

Duncan pursed his lips and nodded to Belle's arguments. She made good points, and he certainly didn't want to continue that wedding curse that seemed to be going on at the circus. His eyes lit up at her suggestion. "I was just thinking about that!" he said, grinning. "I was kind of waiting to ask, but you beat me to it. The cottage, that's a wonderful idea. That place is beautiful."
He let out a sigh as he recalled their trip. It seemed like it had been years ago, after all of the drama with Strato-Forms. All the places they went were beautiful, but nothing beat the cottage in hid book. "Alright, so it's settled. Now let's talk themes. Traditional, modern? Black and white? Hylian? Kaiju?" He bit his lip and chuckled. "I'll stop there before I talk your ears off."

Belle laughed. "No, no, it's fine. I don't want us to be one of those couples where one person calls the shots. That would be unfair. Besides," she leaned into him, her brown ponytail draping over both their shoulders. "They all sound like wonderful themes. I suppose maybe a dabbling in all of them? It would keep a culture shock from coming over everyone but give them just enough, er, difference to make it memorable." Chances were she didn't want to fall into a pit of lava or whatever Kaiju deemed the 'just married', and chances were people didn't want to see that. Not did she think them jumping off of a giant statue erected for the purpose of finishing Hylian wedding rites would be appropriate either.

Given their close proximity, Duncan took the opportunity to steal a kiss. Or two. On her lips and her cheek. His arm wrapped around her waist again and he leaned his head against hers, humming in thought once more. "A mix is probably our safest bet. I really have no idea about Hylian weddings, and Kaiju weddings are... well, they're pretty much short and to the point. One thing, though-- regardless of what theme we choose, Belloc is performing the ceremony. It's one of the most sacred Kaiju traditions. I can't exactly become the crowned prince if I break it. But other than that, we can do what we want with the wedding."

While keeping her head in her thoughts, Belle was brought back to reality by lips on hers. And then on her cheek. Typical Duncan, being sweet by giving her two pecks instead of one. Her face got warm, and her smile widened a bit. If they weren't talking about the most serious commitment in the world, they would have been like every other couple, just nuzzling in one another's company. Her face fell a bit at Belloc pretty much cementing the title of presider. Zelda had volunteered herself, but perhaps getting on the bad side of a fierce dragon like demon was unwise. And what Duncan said was true; in a book she read about Kaijus, the tradition of the heir being passed on to a mate had to be overlooked by the current sovereign. Plus, it showed that Belloc was 'noble', in a way. "...It gives Facilier time off as minister," Belle joked dryly. "I'm half expecting everyone now to be knocking on our door wanting to be involved."
