Clopin had been thoughtful about Dimitri's feelings about Jane. Clopin and Harley had agreements that they weren't going to have a kid. The hyenas filled that role. To have an actual child to care for and watch out for every second of the day was far too much of a big responsibility, and Clopin relished in being able to have independence and freedom. Dimitri was also clear proof that it was easy to screw things up. That was why Clopin was content with the family he had already made in the circus, and his real family back in France. Granted, like Dimitri, he wished he had been there for Jane more. He felt like he did the best he could as a human man with a fast-growing, demon-zombie child, but he still couldn't help feeling like he could have done even more.
Dimitri's words did not appease Clopin. In that moment, Clopin looked very much like a child who had just been denied something. His brow furrowed tightly on his eyes. His lips were an annoyed pout. "Patient?" He huffed. To an average man, the fact that there needed to be preparation made sense, but to Clopin, his logic was that it didn't matter what happened to the priest. It didn't matter if the priest died in the ceremony for all Clopin cared. The only thing that mattered was that Jane made it out okay. "Hmph ... well ... if it's necessary that we wait, then so be it. But if he takes any longer than the month or two, then we will drag his ass here." Feeling tense, Clopin sighed once more, and looked to Dimitri. "Listen, I need to tend to some things. But keep me posted. I want to help with this as much as possible. We both need to make some things up to Jane. And I want updates whenever you get any. I'm easy to find. For now, I guess you can ..." Clopin paused. His voice went a bit softer. "You should sleep. You look exhausted. I think there are a few empty beds in the males' tent you can use." He looked at Dimitri for a moment with sympathy, then turned on his heels and left.
