Charlie was walking around town. Rita, Itchy and AnneMarie had told him to go have some time to himself. What they really meant was 'Go away for awhile we want some girl time.' He was fine with that actually, it would give him time to think about what the next step was in finding out who had taken Rita and Itchy from Heaven. He laid down by a cafe' and began to think about the possible suspects.

Xanatos' dark eyes locked onto the German Shepard as he came to rest at a small cafe. He merely gave a small smirk as he stepped out onto the street, wearing the face of Owens as he approached the cafe and took a seat at a table close to where Charlie was.
He ordered an espresso and pretended to be reading a paper while he secretly observed the dog. Clearly this was the one Red had spoken off. Why the cat demon was so interested in him was something that Xanatos didn't really care about. All he knew was that Red had questioned his powers and, although he would never let himself be used by Red, he would none the less trick the dog angel.
After all, he was from the Cirque and if Xanatos gained sway over him, it would be just another pawn to use when the time came to destroy the Cirque and claim Sally.

Charlie looked up as he sensed someone looking, no watching him. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a man 'reading' a news paper. Charlie chuckled to himself, it was the oldest trick in the book. He got up an walked over to the man. "You might want to try something else than the old pretending to read a news paper trick with me." He said casually.

Xanatos' response was merely to smile and give a small chuckle. He placed his paper aside and adjusted his glasses, which flashed in the sun for a moment before he looked down at the German Shepard.
"Well, most would consider it impolite to stare directly at someone they do not know. Social norms, after all."
He moved his paper and picked up the cup of steaming liquid that sat on the table, taking a small sip before speaking once more.
"Most people would also consider someone who talked to a canine to be mentally ill at the very least, but of course, most dogs don't speak back."

"True, but I'm not a normal dog, but then I think you already know that. So what can I help you with Mr?" Charlie trailed off he had no clue who this person was. Charlie scratched his neck acting like he didn't care. In reality he was rather curious as to what this strange man wanted with him. He leaped up onto the other chair and locked eyes with the man.

Xanatos smiled around his cup before placing it back down and crossing his legs leisurely.
"Call me Owens." This simple reply was given as Charlie climbed into the opposite chair. No one around them seemed to notice anything unusual.
"And I take it that you must have a name. Or do your kind not use them as others like myself do?"

"No we use them. Though it's not always the same as what humans give us." Charlie said laughing. "It's Charlie." He decided not to give his last name. "So what can I do for you Owens?" He asked again getting straight to the point. The fact that Owens had been watching him and hadn't been taken aback by Charlie talking intrigued the angel. It also slightly worried him.

Owens just smiled and lacked his fingers together as he leaned back, clearly at ease speaking with Charlie.
"Oh, nothing I can't find through other means, Charlie. You see, the other day I saw yonder Cirque in town and when I went to explore it, a rather unlikable gentleman placed a bet against me. And while I normally do not bet, I agreed to the challenge. Indeed, it was to find a member of the Cirque. And am I right to assume that you are a member of said establishment? Your unique characteristics would say so."
Xanatos said all of this with utter calmness in his disguised form, smiling a thin smile at the more than a dog sitting across from him.

Charlie ignored the feeling of Annabell trying to contact him. "A bet huh? I guess this guy must have insulted you pretty badly for you to agree to something you normally don't do." To the question of him being a member of the cirque he merely nodded. His friends and family were down there. If an unlikable person made a challenge concerning the cirque it might get nasty. "After you find a member of the cirque, then what?" He asked. He knew bets usually contained more than just finding a person.

"Owens" gave a small shrug of the shoulders as he crossed his legs under the café table.
"Mostly just learn more about said individual. The person I spoke with has an interest in the unique and, no offense intended, occult. He seemed to want to learn more about the nature of the Cirque. He is very powerful and, if he liked what he saw and heard, might consider offering a substantial fund to the Cirque. To preserve what I would assume he sees as a treasure trove of supernatural."

"And he couldn't come and find out himself because?" Charlie asked. It seemed a little odd that someone might be interested in giving money to the circus and not do it themselves. Charlie shook his head clearing the uneasiness from his head. "Sorry about that. It just seems a bit odd to me that someone interested in giving money would have someone else do it for them. What is it you want to know?"

Owens tilted his head and gave a small smile at Charlie's questions. Clearly he was very observant, something he would have to take into consideration.
"Well, I must say I find it a little strange myself that he was not able to do this on his own, but I can only assume his reasons for asking me to do this in his stead." This was very true in regards to what Red had asked of him.
"As for what I wish to know, let us begin with the basics. Tell me something of yourself, what you do at the circus."

"Lots of things." Charlie said. "I work in the infirmary. Sometimes I do an act with my best friend and mate." His tale began to wag at the thought of Rita. "And the occasional con with Sinbad." He said with a crocked smile.

"Owens" listened in utter silence before he cupped his chin and appeared to be thinking over what the German Shepard had told him.
"Hmmm. Most interesting. It sounds as if you work with quite a large group at the Cirque in your duties. So tell me more about yourself. What brought you to the Cirque in the first place? I would think it would be a bit more than chance and circumstance."

Charlie decided to tread very carefully here. The fact that Annabell kept trying to contact him made him even more uneasy about Owens. "Someone took my friend Itchy and my mate Rita away from Hea-home, and I came looking for them. They had both found the Cirque and we decided to move in and join." He could have kicked himself for almost telling Owens what he was. "Now the Cirque is our home. What else do you want to know?" Charlie's eyes hardened as he tried to figure out what was off with this guy.
